Studio Newborn Session // Snohomish, WA
Ah, this was such a super sweet little newborn session. Mila was one of the very first newborns that I got the opportunity to photograph when I started my business and now we meet again to photograph Mila + her brand new baby brother, Carsen. It's hard to believe that a few years have passed since we sat in their home and photographed them as a new family of 3. This newborn session was a little different than our first one, but it was twice as fun to be able to hang with them again and capture one of their early days as a family of 4.
While I prefer to do newborn sessions in the client's home, this was an exception as it was probably one of the darkest and dreariest days we had seen in a long time. Kristin remembered how we struggled with finding natural light in their home during our last session so we opted to do this one in our small studio. While it's not their home or a beautiful outdoor location, I do love the simplicity of this whole set. The whole session was shot using a small sofa in front of one large window and we managed to get 100+ images. I always remind clients that I'm more concerned with drawing out the genuine connection and emotion between you and your loved ones than I am with the location or background. Those things are important too, but I don't feel like they should be the primary focus of a newborn or family session. When you trust me on that and just go with the flow (even in the midst of temper tantrums, blowouts, and cluster feeding), really beautiful things do happen. If these images don't prove that to you, I honestly don't know what else will. Here are a few of my favorites from the family portion of our session.
