Rainy Indoor Family Session // Mendocino, CA

Goodness sakes, I've been sitting on this one for far too long.  Shortly after this session took place, I found myself caught up in one of the busiest seasons of my life!  My husband and I were passing each other for weeks (him traveling every other week for work and myself traveling for photography stuff), our house was literally falling apart and we were tackling repairs and preparing for some big home improvement projects, a few of our dearest family members were in and out of the hospital, we wrapped up our first year of preschool, took a much needed family vacation and then we transitioned right into a very busy Summer.  Needless to say, blogging and social media have not been my top priority, but I'm working my way out of the hole and starting to see light at the end of the tunnel.

This session actually took place a few months ago while I was on a retreat in California with some dear photographer friends.  We invited this beautiful family to come to the retreat house for a family session and although it rained the entire time, we didn't mind one bit because we had the dreamiest light streaming through every window of this gorgeous home.  No agenda, no expectations, and no group of aggressive photographers throwing elbows and competing for shots.  We shared ideas and simply captured all the real stuff that unfolded in front of us.  It was so refreshing to be able to shoot after a looooong and unusually wet season and to have the freedom to shoot a session without any expectations.  Here are a few of my favorite photos from our time with the Adam's family.
