Intimate Elopement at Mount Baker // Bellingham, WA
Part I: The Ceremony
Tara and Trisha’s wedding was one of my favorite weddings of the summer. They opted to have an intimate sunrise ceremony at Mount Baker, which is a happy place for them. They also hosted a larger celebration with family and friends at Eagle Tree’s Farm. Mount Baker also holds a very special place in my heart so I was thrilled to spend the day at the mountain with them. Since the ceremony was scheduled to take place at sunrise, I borrowed my parent’s VW camper van and brought my whole family along for a weekend at the mountain. We had the best time hiking, camping, and celebrating Tara and Trisha.
The morning of the wedding did NOT go as planned. After weeks of beautiful summer sunshine, we were thrown a curve ball when we all woke up to heavy rain and fog so thick that you couldn’t even see the mountains. I met the girls, their mothers, and a few of their closest people in the parking lot at dawn and we decided to stick with our original plan and embrace the elements. The mountain was quiet and peaceful that morning. There wasn’t a hiker or car in sight, which is incredibly rare for a Saturday morning. Tara and Trisha exchanged their vows in the rain and it was every bit as magical as the sunrise ceremony that we all had envisioned.
After the ceremony, we attempted to take some portraits while the rest of their family and friends went back to the house to warm up. We may have gotten soaked and froze our butts off that morning, but we laughed and made the most of every minute we had and created some of my favorite portraits. Here are the photos from our time together at the mountain. Keep scrolling to see photos from their sun-soaked reception at Eagle Tree’s Farm.
Part II: The Reception
Tara and Trisha hosted an afternoon reception with family and friends at Eagle Tree’s Farm, which is a beautiful little family farm on the Nooksack River. The weather eventually cleared up and we were blessed with the most beautiful afternoon to celebrate with family and friends. Their reception was super laid back with music, pizza, desserts, lawn games and a bonfire. Tara and Trisha made moonshine and lilac jelly for all of their guests to take home and made sure to load me up with special treats as well. It was such a sweet celebration with some of the sweetest people. I loved every minute of this day and all the beautiful photos that followed. Here are some of my favorites from their reception.
