Ciara + Colin // Bellingham Engagement Session
Ciara told me that she found me and fell in love with my work while scrolling on Instagram, which still kinda blows my mind because I'm not very active on social media so I don't expect amazing people like Ciara (and Colin) to find me on Instagram. Truth be told, I fell in love with her and her work too. Her initial message was like a breath of fresh air and I knew right away that I was sold. If you don't already follow @artbyciara, stop what you are doing right now and go check out her incredible work. Ciara is not only a gifted artist, but one of the sweetest people that I have ever had a chance to work with and I'm convinced that she's a Guamanian princess. Not to mention, Colin, is pretty awesome too. I met them for beers in Bellingham one evening and we just clicked. After hearing more about their wedding day and all the wonderful local vendors that they have carefully chosen for their day, I felt truly honored and humbled to be part of their team. To say that I am excited for their wedding would be a huge understatement and you can expect to see their wedding on the blog later this year. But first, let's talk about their super sweet engagement session.
Ciara initially wanted to do the engagement session at a friend's flower farm in the Spring; however, the flowers were not quite ready for us so we made a very last minute decision to shoot their session at Colin's parent's home on Chuckanut Drive. I will be the first to admit that I was a little nervous about shooting in a place that I had not had an opportunity to scout out beforehand, but I trusted Ciara's vision and went along with it. This shoot was completely spontaneous and after the session, Ciara told me that they really loved that aspect of it. We walked down to Teddy Bear Cove and attempted to shoot around the riff-raff while we waited for the sun to go down a little bit and then finished the session as the sun set in the backyard that Colin grew up in. I absolutely loved this session and the humans that were part of it. I fell in love with every single frame, but here is a small collection of my favorites.
