Bret + Sam // Skykomish River Engagement Session

Sam is my hair stylist and I just adore her and her talent so much.  When she first told me she was engaged, I was super excited and secretly hoping she would ask me to capture her engagement or wedding photos.  Little did I know that Sam and her love had been planning a wedding for months and already had a photographer and venue lined up in Tacoma.  So life went on and then a few months later I got an email from Sam asking me if I would want to capture their engagement photos.  Say, what??!  As it turned out, the stress of wedding planning and people pleasing became overwhelming so they decided to change plans, cancel the wedding in Washington, and elope in Maui!  That's right, MAUI!!  I was happy to hear that Bret and Sam were opting to doing things their way (after all, that's how it should be).  Not to mention, I was absolutely thrilled that they wanted me to capture engagement photos for them!  We started planning the session and Sam confessed that they were super awkward and always making silly faces in photos so she was worried about how the photos would turn out.  Like every other session, we did start off awkward, but Bret and Sam were the cutest "awkward people" on the planet and all those nervous feelings eventually fell to the wayside.  While we didn't have the smoothest session and had to improvise a little bit, we did manage to have a lot of fun and captured tons of awesome photos in the process.  Here are some of my favorites from our time together!
